About the restaurant
The Haj Kahil family has lived in Jaffa for over 120 years. During the days of Turkish rule, at the end of the 19th century, members of the family made a living by driving ‘delijans’ – carriages that drove the respected residents of Jaffa around the Land of Israel and also functioned as bodyguards. The new Haj Kahil restaurant was opened by Naim Haj Kahil in the same place that was used for years as a ‘central station’ for carriages. As a token of appreciation for the family history, Haj Kahil immortalized the delijans as the symbol of the new restaurant.
On the restaurant’s menu you will find the best and favorite dishes that to this day you would travel especially to the Galilee to eat them: stuffed lamb neck, lamb shank, excellent halabi kebab, tahini or tomato siniya, mahmar and fresh seasonal salads to start. All these alongside a large variety of skewers and steaks and without giving up knapa and wrap for dessert.
